Offline – Loyalty card schemes, promotions, member services
 
Research shows that customers give more feedback on bad products and services than on great ones. As a product or service provider would you want to gain this feed straight after the point of sale? Imagine leaving the counter after a purchase and once outside the door you get a text from the counter asking for feedback on your purchase? In certain circumstances this may be seen as ‘big brother’, however if it were giving you an offer to buy more but spend the same, this may be beneficial.
 
Let’s identify the coach and bus industry as an example. A London Show stages a musical. The audience is generally one off attendees unless they become loyal and return with other friends. The tour industry however packages this musical across its potential customer base and delivers a coach load or more at every performance. Where is the incentive for the coach operator apart from immediate financial reward for a full coach? If the coach operator were part of a loyalty scheme with the musical production company, they could be incentivised to fill seats on both the coach and the theatre. Now here’s where Ricnor’s experience comes to the fore.
 
Those seats are all filled by attendees who may have loyalty to two brands, the coach or tour operator and the musical production. They are the unknown audience to the musical production company. Their admission ticket may be ‘Mr Jones multiplied by 55’. Our experience tells us to inform Mr Jones and his fellow Musical attendees of the offers within the Theatre (two for one drinks at the bar, poster of the musical free with every CD-Rom purchased. This is where the magic happens. The driver receives a text en route to the venue. Once the driver arrives to disembark the passengers, he/she makes an announcement. The announcement is read from the text he/she has received on the text.
 
“The Acme theatre welcomes you this evening and wants you to enjoy the show. As a partner with the Coach/Tour operator we are able to offer deals while you enjoy the show. Collect a voucher from me and it will give you free ice cream at the interval, two for one on soft drinks in the bar and a free poster when you buy a CD to listen to your new favourites when I get you home. Just put your mobile number on the voucher with your name and present it with your purchases”
 
Instant good feedback to the driver, instilling customer loyalty prior to getting off the bus for those who like an offer, and who doesn’t. Venue see the return on their investment by redeeming sales vouchers. Coach/Tour operator gains valuable feedback on customer spend by receiving more preferred rates from venue.
